The Department of Anthropology at the University of Louisville invites applications for a one-year Term Assistant Professor in Cultural Anthropology. We seek a cultural anthropologist to teach sections of Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and upper-level undergraduate courses in their area of expertise. We have a strong preference for a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and we are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching involves one or more of the following areas of scholarship: human migration, mobility, and displacement; medical anthropology; or urban anthropology. The successful candidate should have a commitment to engaged research, integrating research and teaching, inclusive teaching pedagogies, and to developing student skills in critical thinking. This position is subject to final budget approval. The appointment will begin August 1, 2021.
Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in cultural anthropology and participate in departmental activities. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
Applicants must apply on-line and attach one document containing a cover letter with a statement of teaching qualifications, current vitae, and names and email addresses of at least three referees. Review of applications will begin April 19, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. For more information about the Anthropology program at UofL, visit http://louisville.edu/anthropology.
