The Africana Studies Program at Stockton University is seeking applicants for a full-time (10-month) Assistant Professor of Africana Studies to begin September 1, 2021. The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Africana Studies at Stockton University is a fairly new program where a new faculty member will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the major.

Responsibilities:
  • Offer courses in department and the General Studies curriculum.
  • Serve as a preceptor to students.
  • Participate in scholarship and/or creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
  • Provide service to the university, community, and profession.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Dean or the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Africana Studies or equivalent field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scholarly record of research in Africana Studies or equivalent field
  • Experience teaching courses in history of people of African descent and/or courses about social and psychological issues facing people of African descent.
