We are seeking a scholar who can teach a variety of literary and cultural topics primarily in Spanish at the intersection of Iberian and Middle East and North African Studies, with a preference for scholars working on periods prior to the twentieth century. Areas and topics may include Al-Andalus; Medieval Spain; morisco, converso, and/or mudéjar communities; and early modern Iberian engagement with Morocco and the Ottoman Empire. Research proficiency in Arabic required; higher levels of Arabic and/or additional skills in other major languages of the region (e.g., Hebrew, Tamazight, colloquial Arabic dialects, etc.) will enhance the candidacy. While we seek scholars trained in literary and historical studies, we welcome interdisciplinary approaches.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, names and contact information for three references, and sample course syllabi through our online application system. Writing samples of no more than twenty-five pages and letters of support will be requested from all candidates who advance in the search. Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2025, and continue until the position is filled. For more information, contact Christopher Dunn, [email protected]
